On June 13, 2019, the Government of New Brunswick opened a public consultation on their proposed Output-Based Pricing System for New Brunswick's large industrial emitters, including electricy generators. The public review and comment period ended July 12, 2019.

Federal
Environment and Climate Change Canada released the Regulatory Design Paper on the Clean Fuel Standard on December 20, 2018. The Clean Fuel Standard will accelerate Canada’s transition to a low carbon future by stimulating investments in clean technology and low carbon fuels. The regulatory design paper document can be obtained on the Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Clean Fuel Standard Webpage and on the Clean Fuel Standard Google Drive. Interested parties were invited to submit comments on the Regulatory Design Paper before February 1st, 2019.

On May 28, 2018 Environment and Climate Change Canada released for comment a paper outlining the proposed compliance options for facilities covered by the federal output-based pricing system (OBPS). This paper is available online here. The paper includes proposed use and eligibility of offset and surplus credits under the federal OBPS as well as rules for emissions trading.
