The Fredericton Area Watersheds Association (FAWA) was founded in 2002 as a non-profit community-led organization dedicated to actively protecting and improving the wellbeing of the watersheds (streams, rivers, wetlands) of greater Fredericton. Projects have included tree-planting, trail creation, student-led restoration projects, water quality monitoring, education and outreach. FAWA’s board of directors is inviting expressions of interest from members of all residents of Fredericton and vicinity, especially minority, indigenous and other under-represented groups within our province for the following positions within the organization:

-Directors (Volunteer positions; involves on-going engagement in governance of organization, policy direction setting and operations oversight), and

-Executive Director (responsible for the operations of FAWA as guided by the Board of Directors. This is presently a volunteer position pending funding being secured, at which time interviews will be conducted).

Please send a few words about yourself, your possible contribution to one or both of the above positions, and area of expertise (climate change, adaptation, stream ecology, biology, hydrogeology, sociology, ecology, recreation, other) to  on or before Friday, November 29th (for invitation to a special meeting) or December 13 for all others. We will acknowledge all emails; only those selected for further engagement will be contacted.

Civil society groups like FAWA are critical for a functioning democracy and healthy ecosystems. Please consider getting involved. For more information, find us on Facebook: “Fredericton Area Watersheds Association.”
