Pour l'amour de la baie : Travailler au-delà des frontières pour une économie bleue durable

Pour lamour de la baie BANNER FR

From the settlement of the First Nations to today, the Chaleur Bay/Pagtapeg has allowed its communities to prosper. The various sectors of the blue economy are undeniably essential for the region in terms of regional development and maintaining a strong identity.

On Thursday, October 14, the Conservation Council of New Brunswick in partnership with Anne Fauré, professor of marine resource management at the Université du Québec à Rimouski, and the New Brunswick Environmental Network are hosting For the Love of the Bay - a virtual event in French to explore how we can collectively work across borders for the sustainability of our beloved Chaleur Bay/Pagtapeg.

The federal government has officially launched the engagement phase to develop Canada's Blue Economy Strategy, which will be presented in late fall 2021. An ecosystem-based planning and management approach is required, particularly for transboundary areas such as the Chaleur Bay/Pagtapeg. It is therefore important that the voice of our beautiful region be heard if we want a strategy that prioritizes the sustainability the bay's ecosystems.

During this virtual event, presenters with a variety of expertise will be asked to share their unique perspectives on the following questions:

How can we ensure the sustainability of the Chaleur Bay/Pagtapeg ecosystem?

How do we do it in a transboundary context?

The schedule for the day will be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, save the date and register now so you don't miss anything.

Please note that this event is in French. No interpretation is available at this time.
